Emma graduated with First Class Hons studying singing and piano at Trinity College and made her solo debut with the Royal Opera as a Flowermaiden in Parsifal with Placido Domingo. For ROH she also sang Clorinda in Cenerentola with Juan Diego Flórez. Over the last 15 years she has sung many major roles for other companies. Highlights include 3 different productions as Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, title roles in Semele, Maria Stuarda, Lucia di Lammermoor, Armida (Rossini), and last year her Verdi debut, title role in Luisa Miller.
In 2018, she came 4th in Bellinzona Switzerland in their international Bellincanto competition and this January she was awarded the Art Song Prize in Lyra New York International Vocal Competition. She performs Oratorio and Chamber music concerts regularly across the UK, has performed on Radio 3’s In Tune and made a CD of Handel Arias with London Mozart Players.
Emma has lived in Hackney for 25 years and teaches and performs here often. She performs regularly with her classical band three4 (with Violinist Kate Conway and Pianist Stuart Wild) at Martello Hall cocktail bar Mare St and also for Hackney Proms. She has just run a Community Fledermaus with Rap and Dance in partnership with Hackney Empire and Hackney Music Services called Bat out of Hackney backed by Arts Council England. Over the last 18 months, Emma has also set up Music in the Ville, at HMP Pentonville, including recently a prisoner’s choir, to get more music to prisoners.
